Eka, in Sanskrit means ONE. In the yoga sutras, Eka means ‘to practice one principle’ at a time. This can be interpreted as – cultivating focused awareness on one subject, object or thought at a time. Essentially, it is developing one-pointed awareness to still the mind, so that one can experience calmness of the mind. Meditation, pranayama, chanting and mindfully practicing yoga asanas (postures), are a few methods by which one can practice the essence of ‘Eka’ in our lives!
